Thank you very much to all participants that came to Sheffield for the Wementor meeting. The event was a great chance for partners across Europe to meet each other and share their experiences of mentoring. During the meeting different definitions of mentoring were proposed with variations across cultures and the main issues surrounding the development of mentoring programmes were discussed. The meeting was also a chance to present the experiences gained from the UK in running several mentoring programmes for women over the past 10 years. In addition, innovative concepts of mentoring were explored through the concept of e-mentoring. Elisabeth and Katharina presented their own example of cybermentoring pair showing how, by interacting online, they were able to share their passion for science, work on a common research project and develop their friendship. The end of a successful day was finally celebrated at Piccolino’s, where everyone had the chance to share their experiences of living in different countries, enjoying Sheffield City Centre and the nice view on the Peace Gardens.
